Mullen heads to the course on Monday to begin postseason girls golf play in Class 4A Region 4.

The Mustangs will be in Montrose to play Cobble Creek Golf Club in Montrose.

They will compete with Battle Mountain, Central (G.J.), Conifer, Durango, Eagle Valley, Evergreen, Glenwood Springs, Golden, Montrose, Palisade, Pomona, Rifle and Steamboat Springs.

Cobble Creek will play to 2,890-2,863—5,753 yards.

Eighty-four players are in the field that will begin at 9 a.m.

The past season, Mullen’s Sofia Choi was regional medalist at Overland G.C. as the Mustangs also won their first team title since 2005. Kaitlin Zingler was second.

At Cobble Creek, Choi, a senior and two-time 4A state runner-up – there was no season in her sophomore year because of the coronvirus (COVID-19) pandemic – will be in the Hole No. 1A group.

Zingler, now a junior, is in 1B. The Mustangs’ other two qualifiers, both freshmen, Sammy Yates and Riley Sullivan, will be at 18A and 18B, respectively.

Two teams will qualify among a total of 21 individuals.
