Joey Mahmood, Interim Athletic Director
New sports medicine partnership strengthens Mullen’s commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes in Denver.
Mullen High School is proud to announce a new sports medicine partnership with Dr. Jacob Hartline, a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center. At Mullen, the health and well-being of our students comes first. This partnership provides another valuable resource for Mullen student-athletes and their families while strengthening the support surrounding our athletic programs.
As a private high school in Denver committed to developing students in mind, body, and spirit, Mullen believes a strong athletics program extends beyond competition. It includes providing student-athletes and their families with access to knowledgeable professionals who understand the unique physical demands of high school sports.
“We are incredibly excited about this partnership and what it means for our student-athletes and their families,” said Mullen High School Interim Athletic Director, Joey Mahmood. “Having a physician of Dr. Hartline’s caliber working with our sports medicine team reinforces our commitment to putting the health and well-being of our students first. We look forward to growing this relationship and the positive impact it can have on the Mullen community.”
Dr. Hartline brings extensive experience caring for athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.
A Tennessee native, he earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. From 2020–2025, Dr. Hartline served as a team physician for River Hill High School football in Maryland and helped care for University of Maryland athletes. His experience included coverage of NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships and NCAA Women’s Basketball March Madness.
During 2025–2026, he served as an assistant team physician with the University of Pittsburgh football team and provided sideline coverage and care for athletes from Carnegie Mellon University, Robert Morris University, and Duquesne University. He also served as a fellow physician at the 2026 NFL Combine with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dr. Hartline understands athletics from a competitor’s perspective as well. Before beginning his medical training, he competed as a collegiate distance runner and continues to stay active through marathon running. “I couldn’t be more excited to work with the Sports Medicine team at Mullen. While I take pride in treating active individuals of all ages, helping student-athletes and their families navigate injuries and return to the sports they love is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I know firsthand the impact sports can have on student-athletes and their communities, and I feel incredibly privileged to play a role in supporting Mullen athletics.” — Dr. Jacob Hartline
The partnership reflects Mullen High School’s broader commitment to creating an environment where student-athletes can pursue excellence while receiving the support and resources they need to thrive. For families considering a private high school in Denver, athletics are about much more than wins and losses. Mullen is committed to developing the whole student and creating a community where academic achievement, athletic opportunity, character development, faith, and student well-being work together.
Mullen looks forward to building its relationship with Dr. Hartline and Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center and continuing to strengthen the resources available to Mustang student-athletes and their families.
