THORNTON -- They undoubtedly wanted more, but Mullen’s Mustangs put themselves into position on Thursday to score in Friday’s finals of the Class 4A girls swimming and diving championships.
How many points they can put up and what the higher-end teams can generate remains to be seen, but the Mustangs will be represented in eight of the finals races at the Veteran memorial Aquatics Center.
Topped by performances in key relays, the 200-yard free relay team of Gabrielle Zinis, Claire Chahbandour, Lindsey Sowitch and Sofia  Zinis finished first in 1 minute, 38.67 seconds.
The 200 medley relay team of Micaela Clode, Chahbandour, Sowitch and S. Zinis grabbed second in 1:47.61.
