'Stangs downed by Creek

Mullen suffers its first loss in Season D, an 8-1 setback at Cherry Creek in league; Mustangs manage only 3 hits.
 
GREENWOOD VILLAGE – Mullen suffered its first loss in 2021, a road defeat to Cherry Creek that was weather-delayed at Tom McCollum Field in the Centennial League.

The Mustangs fell 8-1 to slip to 1-1 overall and in league.

Cherry Creek (1-1, 1-1) plated two runs in reach of the third and fourth innings and put it away with a four-spot in the fifth.

Mullen was limited to three hits, two by junior Andrew Brady, who also scored the team’s lone run. He was plated in the seventh on a single by Owen Marsh.

Henry Stewart took the mound loss. He lasted 3.2 innings. Chase Brickley finished in relief.

The game was delayed twice by lightning, the first break lasting 1.5 hours.

Mullen will resume league play on Monday, May 10, vs. Eaglecrest at Bill Swift Field, first pitch at 4:15 p.m.
