Weekly Roundup: 1/8 - 1/13

ATHLETIC WEEKLY ROUNDUP
JANUARY 8 THROUGH JANUARY 13
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL 
● On January 13th, Mullen looked to win back to back games to start the new year. The Mustangs traveled to Rocky Mountain High School in a non conference matchup. Mullen jumped out to a big lead and never looked back. The Mustangs had key contributions from Makenzie Jones who dropped 19 pts and 6 rebs. Allison Schwertner also tallied 19 pts and had 8 boards. The Mustangs won big, 67-54. They will take on Overland High School on 1/17. 
BOYS’ BASKETBALL 
● Going for back to back wins, The Mullen Mustangs hit the road to take on Legend High School. The Mustangs would charge past the Titans by a score of 62-56.  Anderson Brendle and Jordan Leslie both had 14 pts. Nico Depizzol chipped in 11 pts.  Next up, on January 13th, the Mustangs defeated the Highlands Ranch Falcons 73-64. That’s now two wins in a row. A bright spot in the win was Sophomore, Mason Bonner, who had a monster double double that included 25 pts and 17 rebs. They take on Overland High School in a conference match up on 1/17. 
HOCKEY 
● On January 10th, The Boys’ hockey team took to the ice to face off against Liberty.  They would fall 8-2. The team looks to bounce back in their next game against Colorado Academy on 1/16. 
GIRLS’ SWIM & DIVE 
● On 1/11 the Girls swim and dive team took on Cherokee Trail High School in a conference matchup. Annie Kozlevchar won the 200 Free with a season best time of 2:12.31. Natalie Bradac won the 200M and added another state cut in the 200M with a time of 2:23.63. Sally Kohara won the 500 Free and is just .72 seconds away from her first state time at 5:50.72. The varsity 400 Free Relay team won the event with a team of Natalie Bradac, Annie Kozlevchar, Sally Kohara, and Lang Davison. On 1/13 the team finished 12th in the Smoky Hill Invitational. Their next meet will be against Arapahoe High School on 1/17. 
BOYS’ WRESTLING 
● On Wednesday, 1/10, The Mullen wrestlers fell to Resurrection Christian by a total score of 48-34. The team wrestled well despite the score. Tony Herrera, Dale OBlia, Gilbert Antillon, Cooper Loth, Isack Chavez, Champion Dyes all had big wins. The next night on 1/11, the Mustangs crushed Liberty Commons 65-0. They will take on Evergreen High School on 1/15.
GIRLS’ WRESTLING 
● On 1/11 the Girls’ wrestling team took on Liberty Commons and came out victorious. The girls will travel to Evergreen on 1/15.
