ATHLETIC WEEKLY ROUNDUP
APRIL 1 THROUGH APRIL 6
 
BOYS’ SWIM & DIVE 
  • On Thursday, the Mustangs took to the pool against the Grandview Wolves. Mullen swimmer, Luke Jordan, finished in 1st place in the 200M Individual Relay. Noah Mooney finished ahead of the pack in the 50M Freestyle and 100M backstroke. Finally, Luke Jordan again took the top spot in the 100M Freestyle. 
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL 
  • On Tuesday of last week, the Mustangs hit the road to take on the Wolves of Grandview. Mullen would fall in straight sets 3-0. On Thursday, they hosted the Cherry Creek Bruins and lost in straight sets. This past Saturday, Mullen hosted the first ever Mullen Stampede Invitational. In their first match of the tourney, they took on the STEM School of Highlands Ranch and came away with a 2-0 victory. In the semi-final round, they played Centaurus and defeated the Warriors 2-1.  In the championship match against Westminster, they fell to the Wolves 3-0.
  • The Mustangs will take on Cherokee Trail on 4/9. 
GIRLS’ SOCCER
  • Last Monday, the Mustang Girls’ Soccer team hit the road for a match up against the Overland Trailblazers. Battling cold temps and weather delays, Mullen defeated Overland 10-0.  Marin Mooney led the way with 3 goals in the contest. On Thursday, the girls fell to the Cherry Creek Bruins by a score of 3-0. They will take the pitch on Tuesday, 4/9 at Legacy Stadium against Grandview. 
BOYS’ LACROSSE
  • Last Wednesday, the boys’ lacrosse team hosted Chatfield High School at De La Salle Stadium and fell to the Chargers 11-2. They will look to bounce back on Wednesday, 4/10 against Ralston Valley High School.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE 
  • On Tuesday of last week, the girls’ lacrosse team hosted Columbine in their first game back from spring break. The Mustangs fell 17-9 to the Rebels. Later in the week on Thursday, Mullen took the field against Rock Canyon High School and lost in a close one by a score of 10-7. They will look to bounce back against Heritage High School on Tuesday. 
BASEBALL 
  • On Tuesday of last week, The Mullen baseball team took on Arvada West in their first game back after their trip to Arizona. The Mustangs would get the win by a score of 7-5. Mullen had contributions up and down the batting order in the win. On Friday the Mustangs traveled to GameDay Ballpark in Parker to take on No. 3 ranked Regis Jesuit.  Under high wind warnings across the metroplex, Mullen beat the Raiders by a score of 9-6. Blake Young and Thomas Stewart would both go deep in this matchup. Under continued blustery conditions a day later, the Mustangs hit the diamond against No. 7 ranked Brighton High School and fell 11-7. Mullen will look to get back in the win column against Overland on  Tuesday, 4/9.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
  • On 4/2, The Girls’ Tennis team traveled to Cherry Creek High School and fell by a score of 7-0. A day later, Mullen traveled to Golden High School and defeated the Devils 7-0. On 4/4, The girls took on Grandview on Thursday and won big over the Wolves 7-0. The team will go for their third win in a row against Smoky Hill on Tuesday, 4/9. 
GIRLS GOLF
  • The Girls’ Varsity Golf team participated in their 2nd Centennial League event which took place at the Foothills Golf course. Freshman, Abby Gray, carried the Mustangs to a 2nd place finish behind a very good Cherry Creek Team. Abby finished tied for 5th by shooting an 84 after a slow start on the first hole where she shot a bogey.  Riley Sullivan placed in the top 10 for the 2nd time this season after shooting an 86. 
TRACK & FIELD
  • In the Northfield Meet on Saturday, leading the way for the Mustangs was Jacob Shushinsky, who showed up well in the 3200 meters and set a new meet record in the process. Genna Hockin secured the victory in the 1600 meters and showed well with a strong second-place finish in the 3200. Julia Brown took first place in the 400 meters, showcasing her speed. The Men's 4x100 relay team showcased their teamwork and speed, nabbing a well-deserved third-place finish.  Jacqueline Magolske battled it out in the 800 meters, securing a 5th place finish. Gavin Martinez and Maddy Mcdanal impressed with their individual efforts, placing 7th in the 200 meters and shot put, respectively.  Luke DeNezza had a solid 4th place finish in the pole vault.  Carmella Carbone finished with an 8th place showing in the long jump.  The Mustangs will take to the track and field again on Saturday when they host their own invitational.
