Devon Moore, Student-Athlete of the Week

High-school sport:
Volleyball (outside hitter), leads the Mustangs in kills.

What I’ve done lately:
Has helped lead the Mustangs to a 9-9 overall mark; they will host Arapahoe on Thursday, Oct. 28, in the final leg of the Centennial League Challenge and compete in the Discovery Canyon Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Grade-point average:
4.17.

Class:
Sophomore.

Why I attend Mullen:
When I was looking between different high schools, I wanted a high school that embraced academics and sports and activities, and Mullen did a very good job of that.

The best thing about my sport:
.Having played multiple sports in the past (basketball and soccer were her main sports), a year ago I chose to focus on volleyball. It has always been my favorite and I’ve found it to be the most team-oriented sport and the most high-spirited.

In my future:
Short term, after our season, I’m looking forward to the club season. We have some fine travel tournaments and later I’ll do a little more exploring out-of-state options. I aspire to play college
volleyball.

Pre-Game ritual:
I don’t have anything superstitious … I just enjoy listening to music to get me excited to play.

Favorite college team:
I love going to different colleges in Colorado, but I don’t have a favorite. I enjoy watching the U.S. Women’s National Team (volleyball).

Why I play:
I love playing volleyball, just to be a part of the team. I love challenging myself and really enjoy traveling to other states for tournaments.
