Girls level their Centennial mark behind Jones; Leslie's 30 can't prevent season's 10th loss.
AURORA – Mullen used a 19-4 binge in the second quarter to race past Overland 56-38 on a frigidly cold Monday night.
The game was a makeup from a recent snowstorm.
The Mustangs moved to 8-9 overall and levelled their Centennial League mark at 2-2.
After beginning slowly, Mullen got it together after the opening 8 minutes to take command.
Sophomore Tatum Jones led Mullen with a career-high 22 points. She combined a variety of inside moves and cleaning up around the rim to be the game’s top scorer.
Allison Schwertner added 11 points and McKenzie Wood contributed nine.
Mullen has won two games in a row.
Its play will resume on Wednesday, Feb. 1, with a league game, 5:30 p.m., at Cherokee Trail in Aurora, which is a game off the Centennial pace set by Cherry Creek.

Boys Basketball
The Mustangs faded in the second half in a 64-62 setback to Overland.
Mullen is 7-10 overall, 1-3 in league.
In leading throughout the first half, Mullen came unglued a bit in the third quarter, surrendering the lead, suffering turnovers, failing to fnish and getting beat on the backboards.
Jordan Leslie topped Mullen with a game-high 30 points, 20 in the second half. Thomas Stewart also had a strong game to go with 13 points and Anderson Brendle added 12.
Next is a league game on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Cherokee Trail in Aurora, 7 p.m.
