Emergency Remote Learning | Update 4.14.2020

The “Class Week” adjustment below begins Monday, April 20, 2020 - the first Self Directed Day is Friday, April 24, 2020.
Assignments
  • Teachers post assignments weekly or
  • Teachers post assignments daily
    • Weekly assignments are posted by 8:00am on Monday
    • Daily assignments are posted by 8:00am on daily
Asynchronous Learning
  • Students are not expected to be “in class” during previously established class periods. 
  • Students will have all recordings and class materials available to them and posted for them.

Class Week
  • Beginning the week of April 20, 2020, we will adopt the following schedule:
    • Monday - Thursday: Distance Learning Days
    • Friday: Self Directed Work Days 
      • There will be no large group  student/teacher (recorded or otherwise) contact on Fridays.
      • The following will not occur on Fridays:
        • New assignments will not be posted on Fridays
        • New class material will not be presented on Fridays
      • The following may occur on Fridays:
        • Student Life/activities/clubs can meet on a non-mandatory basis
        • Any assignments due on Friday will be due by 11:00am
        • Students may meet with counselors by appointment
        • Students may meet with teachers by appointment 
        • Students can catch up on work of the week
        • Students may turn in late work  
  • Student, faculty and staff participation in community prayer
  • Long-term assessments may be given over weekends (projects, essays and the like)
Final Exams
  • Traditional post tests will not be given this trimester.
  • Final exams will be reimagined by departments to reflect, as accurately as possible, mastery of content in the Emergency Remote Learning context. 
  • The format of final exams will be communicated in the coming weeks.
  • Final exams will have a weight of no more than 10% of the final grade in the third trimester.
Grading Scale
  • This grade scale will be in effect only for the third trimester of the 2019-2020 school year.
    • A - 86 - 100%  
    • B - 71 - 85%  
    • C - 60 - 70% 
    • D - 41 - 59%  
    • F - 40% and below  

Student Contact Opportunities
  • This schedule of OPTIONAL meeting times attempts to address the concern that it is very challenging for students to attend Office Hours, Zoom gatherings and the like as opportunities for these are overlapping.
    • Students may schedule meetings with teachers by appointment outside this schedule and when they are not in other classes.
    • Likewise, students may schedule meetings with counselors by appointment outside this schedule and when they are not in other classes

Zoom Update
  • Teachers will continue to use a variety of tools, including Zoom meetings. Teachers may record those meetings, and the recording will be the property of the school, shared at the discretion of the teacher to serve distance learning goals.
