May 2020 Reflection

Let us remember...that we are ALL in the holy presence of God

Over the last days we have watched our city, our country and our world react to the death of Minneapolis, Minnesota resident George Floyd. Some have responded with love, some with anger, some with fear, some with restraint and some with abandon. Incredibly, it was less than a week ago when his life was taken too young, too lightly and far too soon. Incomprehension has washed over us all as we have tried to come to terms with the images we have seen and the sadness we have felt.

As a Lasallian and Catholic community, Mullen High School joins with those who pray for Mr. Floyd and his family. We join with those who pray for peace in our communities and in our hearts. We join those who want to work for a better world.  We lean on our core principles:
  • Faith in the holy presence of God
  • Respect for all persons
  • Create an inclusive community.
  • Concerned for the poor and social justice
  • Quality education
We embrace our diverse community and in the Lasallian tradition, our faculty and staff stress the importance of relationships and love for one another. We pray in the words of our founder, St. John Baptist de la Salle: “God of love, inspire me with love for you and for my neighbor.” Please, God, inspire our world.

Holy Spirit, just as you did on Pentecost so long ago, come to us, breathe on us, change us and help us heal our world.  Students, please know we are here to support you and each other.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our Hearts, forever.

In Christ’s Peace,
