O'Blia leads 'Stangs in Colorado Springs; ice hockey 0-2 in the hills.
 
Headed again by Dale O’Blia, Mullen was seventh in the team chase in Saturday’s Cheyenne Mountain Classification Clash in Colorado Springs.

The defending Colorado Champion at 106 pounds in Class 3A, O’Blia (22-0 this season) won the final decisively, by fall.

The sophomore led five others who placed, two by runner-up, among eight Mullen entrants.

Senior Mark Troni (21-3) was second at 160 as was Kaleb Valdez-Lemos (also 21-3) at 170.

Senior Noah Linares (14-4) was third at 132; Gilbert Antillon (19-3) was fourth at 113; and Adam Domenico (14-7) was sixth at 145.

Mullen totaled 115 points. Tops of the 16 teams in the field was Adams City with 200.

The Mustangs, after Thursday’s initial victory of the season, dropped consecutive games in the mountains in nonleague.

On Friday, Mullen fell 12-1 to Steamboat Springs and Saturday contained a 9-0 setback to Summit in Breckenridge.   

Mullen is 1-9 overall.

Next for the Mustangs is a home game at The Edge in Littleton against Aspen, 8:30 p.m.
