Jacob Sushinsky, Student-Athlete of the Week

Class: Junior.

Grade-point average:
4.17.

Favorite subject:
Mathematics.

High-school sports:
Cross country and track and field (1,600 and 3,200 meters).

What I’ve done lately:
Won last week’s Windjammer Invitational at Englewood with a personal-best time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds, and finished fifth in the Centennial League Championships to earn all-league honors..

Why I attend Mullen:
I mean, I really like the community; I really like that aspect of it. It seems like everybody knows each other at Mullen. There aren’t all kinds of people that you have no idea who they are.

The best thing about my sport:
I prefer cross country much more (than track and field). It’s how you’re feeling that day, who’s best on that day for the race and there’s much more strategy. It’s very different and it’s a challenge.

Planned career:
I don’t know yet.

In my immediate future:
In the next couple of weeks, we have running at the (Centennial League Championships); regionals, which will be on a very fast course (in Grand Junction) to qualify for (the state meet); and then the (Class 4A Championships in Colorado Springs).
