Sofia Zienkewicz, Student-Athlete of the Week

Class:
Senior.

Grade-point average:
3.75.

Favorite subject:
Biology.

High-school sport:
Basketball.

What I’ve done lately:
Scored a career-high 16 points on Wednesday as the Mustangs took a rousing 50-47 victory in OT against Grandview in the Centennial League. It pushed the Mustangs to the No. 5 seed in the regular-season-ending tournament that begins on Saturday.

Why I attend Mullen:
I was always raised in a Catholic school and I wanted to stay in a tight-knit community, and it has just done a great job of that for four years. I also came for the basketball team. When I was an eighth-grader, we played our championship game here. And everyone’s so friendly.

The best thing about my sport:
Just the rush you get near the end of a close game. You see all of your teammates, you come together like only in sports ... the energy is great to feel and you remember it for the rest of your life.

Planned career:
Forensics psychologist.

In my immediate future:
I definitely want to go to college. I’ve got a few options and am waiting on other decisions. And basketball is possibly on my horizon.
