Max Egyed Takes Over Mullen’s Sports Med Department

Hank Hooper, Associate Athletic Director
To say Max Egyed (pronounced Egg’ yed) is excited to be Mullen’s new Director of Sports Medicine is an understatement.  One doesn’t even have to ask.  The eyes tell it all.  The gleam of anticipation and dutiful conviction is evident, and Max is a man who is grateful for a new challenge and a new chapter in his life. “It’s a privilege to continue building on the work of my predecessors, who have laid the foundation and built the networks to keep our kids as healthy, happy, and strong as possible. In addition to my personal alignment with Mullen’s core principles, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to lead Mullen’s Sports Medicine department into the next generation as we take residence in the new Wellness Center. I’d like to give special thanks to Joey Mahmood, Melynda Brown, Hank Hooper, and Raul Cardenas for their warm welcomes and clear commitment to Mullen’s cause.”
It was through his connection and years of association with Mr. Mahmood that Max desired to become a part of what he saw as a top-shelf sports medicine department.  For one so young, Max is well traveled.  After earning his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the U, Max quickly pursued his Master of  Science in Human Physiology from Boston University.  From there, he quickly began to acquire the needed practical experience by joining Boston University’s athletic training team.  After moving to Colorado and two years later, Max became an assistant athletic trainer for the Cherry Creek School District while also acting as a Lead Athletic Trainer for Steadman Hawkins Clinic.  Recently, Max worked for Colorado Orthopedic Consultants as the Quality Improvement Coordinator and more recently was the Associate Clinical Oncology Specialist for Natera.

Originally from New Jersey where he was born and raised, Max is the second of four children in an active and athletic family.  Of the four, Max is the only one to choose football and baseball over the other three’s choice to play soccer.  He credits his parents for his position in life for what they taught him and his siblings - be kind, work hard, and follow your dreams.  The first two Max has mastered.  It is the third he feels he has just found.  “I am honored to be named the new Director of Sports Medicine for Mullen High School, and excited for the opportunity to deliver the best possible care to match the caliber of Mullen’s student athletes.”

So, what can Mullen expect as Max lays the pedal to the metal and takes sports medicine into the future.  “My vision for sports medicine at Mullen is a team-based approach to deliver the quickest, most comprehensive care to every person in need, without compromise to quality. Earning trust to form deep partnerships with each student, and every member of the community, and supporting their development is absolutely critical to achieving this vision.”  Or, as Max likes to say, “I am a champion for high-quality healthcare, with a passion for patient advocacy and innovative technology.”  It appears we are in good hands.
