Kathryn Ferentchak '13 Named 2023 Filmmaker of the Year/Visual Effects

Los Angeles, CA – July 25, 2023 - Kathryn Ferentchak, director and producer, and Theo Dudley, writer and creative director, were selected 2023 Filmmaker of the Year/Visual Effects by Pro Moviemaker Magazine for artist JWalks’ music video “White Wine.” The category recognizes the best creative visual effects. The video was the first shoot at Cinepacks’ brand-new LED virtual production studio in Hollywood, combining mixed media, aerial dancing and in-camera visual effects.
“White Wine offered an incredible opportunity to grow my skill set and explore a hyper-real aesthetic,’ explained Kathryn. “By combining virtual production using an LED wall with the choreography of the amazing Autumn Robinson, the video brings to life JWalk’s song of pain and regret intermingled with finding closure in past relationships.”
Kathryn Ferentchak graduated with honors from Mullen High School in Denver, Colorado in 2013, and attended Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude in May 2017. She was selected one of 10 students from her class to study at FAMU - Film and TV Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic in 2016. Her senior film project, Osiris received the Best Capstone Project in the Creative Category for 2017, Syracuse University Renée Crown University Honors Program.
Following graduation, Kathryn moved to LA, where she has been involved in numerous film, television and commercial productions. In 2019, Kathryn received a $40,000 production grant through CNY Arts Innovation Group to produce her short film “I Wish.” New York Fashion Week premiering fashion films edited by Kathryn for designer Wolk Morias achieved recognition in fashion film festivals around the world. She is currently completing the 2023 digital fashion showcase for Wolk Morias, her third in the series.
