Track Day 1: Sushinsky shines

Junior Jacob Sushinsky runs 3rd in the 4A 3,200 meters, just 2.02 seconds off the winning pace; Day 2 is Friday.
Jacob Sushinsky continued his strong, distance-running season on Thursday in the 3,200 meters at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
The Mullen junior took third place at the Colorado Class 4A Championships, turning in a time of 9 minutes, 28-78 seconds.
He was just 2.02 seconds off the winning pace.
Sushinsky was Mullen’s top cross-county runner in the fall and among the best in 4A.
He was the only Mullen competitor to score on the first day.
Elsewhere, Amy O’Connell was 10th in the 3,200 (11:13.74) and Luke DeNezza 12th in pole vault (12-4).
Samuel Puana (100), the girls 3,200 relay and girls sprint medley relay did not make it out of qualifying rounds.
Today, Mullen will have a couple of relays in action, the 800 boys and girls groups.
