Girls tennis swept visiting Overland 7-0 on Tuesday in a Centennial League match.

The Mustangs were impressive and won by an aggregate 84-11 in games.

Sophomore and No. 1 singles Lauren Manwiller won 6-1, 6-2; senior and No. 2 singles Mikayla Phelps won 6-1, 6-0; and junior and No. 3 singles Megan Sandy won 6-0, 6-2.

At doubles, No. 1 Jordan Cleary-Bella Walrath, both juniors, won 6-3, 6-0; No. 2 Rebecca Watts, a junior, and Abby Gilbert,  senior, won 6-1, 6-1; and the Nos. 3 (Chloe Golenzer, a senior, and Tierney Scanlan, a sophomore) and 4 (Brooklyn Hanley-Parker Durand, both sophomores) each breezed 6-0, 6-0.

The Mustangs, now 6-3 in dual meets and having completed their league slate at 5-2, will wrap up their dual schedule on Thursday at home against Palmer Ridge, 3:45 p.m.

They also will host a Class 4A regional before next month’s state meet in Pueblo.

In baseball, the Mustangs lost a home game 5-3 to Arapahoe in league at Bill Swift Field.

Mullen, which gave up single runs in each of the final five innings and was touched for 10 hits, is 8-5 overall, 3-4 in league. It has dropped three games in succession.

Alek Elges, Stephan Loya and Michael Stanford, who also doubled, each had two of Mullen’s nine hits. Michael Brady had a triple and an RBI. Jack Vitry also knocked home a run. Cameron Brickley and Jack Golenzer added singles. Loya also scored twice.

On the mound, freshman Trevor Moore started, went 2 innings and gave way to Sanford and Wyatt Reynolds, a junior who took the loss by being touched for three runs, two earned, over 2.1 innings.

Mullen will have a make-up game on Thursday in nonleague against the Front Range League’s Mountain Range, first pitch at 4 p.m.
In boys lacrosse, Mullen fell 17-8 to always good Arapahoe in league at Brother Bernard Kinneavy Field at De La Salle Stadium.

The Mustangs are 3-7, 1-3 in league.

The Warriors led 7-2 after the first quarter and 12-5 at halftime.

Mullen will have its third home game in three days on Wednesday, when it will host Smoky Hill in league at 7 p.m.
