Annabella Hawkins

High-school sport: Softball (shortstop) and basketball (has played past three seasons, considering a fourth).

What I’ve done lately:
Finished 4 for her last 10 with four runs scored, a double and two RBIs; played strongly in the field.

Grade-point average:
4.5.
Class: Senior.

Why I attend Mullen:
I attend Mullen because of the tradition that has been so consistent along with the community and the sense of pride that every Mustang carries with them to attend a school like Mullen.

The best thing about my sport:
The best thing about softball is it’s a personalized sport but it comes together as a team every time you go on the field … all of those components come together.

In my future:
I want to go the University of Pennsylvania. I’ll be applying Nov. 1 and hope to study the biological basis of behavior (and try to make the softball team).

Pre-Game ritual:
I put my uniform on in the same order every time. I go sliders and socks first, then jersey second, then pants and belt.

Favorite college team:
University of Colorado football.

Why I play:
I play because not only do I love the sport, but I love what the sport teaches people around me as well myself -- how to be good teammates, how to work with people … maybe they don’t like each other, but they have to get along. There are leadership qualities I’ve developed that I can take away when I’m off the field.
