Kaitlin Zingler, Student-Athlete of the Week

High-school sport: Golf.

What I’ve done lately:
.Finished runner-up in her past two tournaments – the Bruin Invitational at CommonGround Golf Couse on Monday with a 2-over-par 73 and a 1-under 72 in Centennial League Tournament No. 4 at Aurora Hills G.C. on Wednesday.

Grade-point average:
4.4.

Class:
Junior.

Why I attend Mullen:
Originally, I came for the community. I’ve loved it here at Mullen and the more I’ve gotten involved, the more I’ve loved it. The academics, everything about it … the teachers are supportive. Everyone has bad days, but there’s something about Mullen that you come back and look forward to it. Every kid wants to be here, it’s so supportive.

The best thing about my sport:
I think the best thing for me is the challenge you get. You can have a day where every shot isn’t amazing. It’s representative of life. If it’s a bad situation, you go for it and work with it. You try to make what’s the best ahead of you.

In my future:
I’m looking at playing college golf, it’s my biggest goal.

Pre-Match ritual:
Usually, I just go play, but I have to use the same ball marker every time and I always play (balls labeled) 1s or 2s.

Favorite college team:
Georgia and Baylor football.

Why I play:
.Like I (stated), I think it’s just the challenge of (golf). You can never perfect it, it’s never perfect. That one shot brings you back, the good ones, the eagle you had … the shots always bring you back. And you’re just chasing your new low score, you’re always pushing yourself. How much better can I get?
