Girls soccer, track and field, and boys swim and dive.
Girls soccer blew up for double-figure goals in a Saturday match and moved to 5-1-1 on the season on a busy Saturday for Mullen sports after the mid-week snowstorm.

The Mustangs rolled St. Mary’s Academy 10-0 at home in nonleague.

Senior Kaylah Wanna led the way with three goals. Lauren Creighton and Anna Riddle each had two. Makana Guthrie, Leah Nuanes and Anna Seaman also scored.

Jill Kubacki and Riddle each contributed two assists, and Jaime DeBerardinis, Brooke Ellis, Seaman and Julianna Zinis all had one.
Next up for the Mustangs is a road match against Grandview at Legacy Stadium in Aurora, 6 p.m.

At the track and field meet at Mountain Range in Westminster on Saturday, Mullen’s boys were 16th (21 points) and girls fourth (58).

Top boys finishers included junior Aiden Keanaaina winning the shot put in 48 feet, 1 inch; freshman Rocco DePizzol taking third in the long jump (19-7.75) and fourth in the high jump (5-10); and Michael Dudzic finishing 12th in the 3,200 (10 minutes,41.44 seconds).

For girls, freshman Kilah Freelon won the 300 hurdles (45.42); sophomore Kaleah Mitchell-Ruff was second in the 200 (26.46) and fourth in the 100 (12.86); freshman Agur Dwol was second in the triple jump (34-8) and third in long jump (15-1.75); senior Morgan Wills was eighth in the discus (101-5); senior Cassandra Pine was 5th in the shot put (34-4) and 11th in the discus (90-4); and the 800 relay team was third in 1:50.39.

On Saturday in Aurora, boys swimming and diving finished eighth in the Smoky Hill Invitational.

The Mustangs totaled 207 points. The host Buffaloes won with 458 points. Heritage was second with 416. There were 14 teams in the field.
William Chavez had a big day for Mullen as he won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.33 seconds and qualified for the state meet, and was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (21.60) with an SQT; Noah Maestas was third in the 200 individual medley (2:02.49 and SQT) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke
(1:02.43 and SQT); and Charlie Baker was fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:51.20) and 100 back (56.27).

Plus, the Mustangs’ 200 free relay team was first in 1:28.82 with an SQT, and third in the 400 free relay (3:15.47 and SQT).

And in Friday night action involving boys lacrosse, the Mustangs got past host Cherokee Trail 5-4 in the Centennial League at Legacy Stadium during late-night snow.

Mullen halted a three-match slide and is 2-4, 1-1.

The Mustangs will host Arapahoe on Tuesday, 6 p.m., in league. The Warriors were 5A semifinaists a year ago.
