Net gain: 'Stangs sweep Kent Denver

Big dual victory could bode well for state seeding.
A busy week for Mullen boys tennis got better on Wednesday – the Mustangs swept host Kent Denver in Cherry Hills Village.

In rolling 7-0 against a recognized Class 4A power, the Mustangs improved to 8-2 in head-to-head matches.

Below are Mustangs, places in the lineups and winning scores:

Mac Caldwell, No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-5.

George Henry Hanzel, No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4.

Tanner Amman, No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

J.P. Starkey-Coleman Guthrie, No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 7-5.

Greg McMullan-Jack Barker, No. 2 doubles, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Charlie Manta-Luc Caldwell, No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6.

Roman Fresquez-Kevin McGuire, No. 4 doubles, 6-4, 7-5.

Mullen will have a third dual in three days, Thursday, Sept. 26, against visiting Smoky Hill, at 3:45 p.m., in the Centennial League

And only duals against Overland, which will close out the league slate, and Niwot stand between the Mustangs and regional qualifying.
