'Stangs lose in 5 innings at Cherokee Trail; netters VII drops a dual, varsity 2nd at Kent Denver.
 
Mullen dropped a 12-2 Centennial league game to Cherokee trail in Auaora on Tuesday, the Mustangs; fifth consecutive loss.

The Mustangs are 7-9 overall, 0-5 in the league.

Held to just four hits, two by outfielder Emmy Holz, Mullen was only able to plate single runs in the second and fifth innings. Elizabeth Brady and Morgan Margeson also hit safely. Cara Newman had a run batted in.

The Cougars capped the game with a five-spot with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

The past Saturday, Mullen lost 10-6 to visiting Eaglecrest.

Mullen will resume league play on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Arapahoe in Centennial, first pitch at 4:30 p.m.

The Mustangs Varsity II recently dropped a league dual 4-3 to Smoky Hill and placed second the past Saturday with Niwot in the Kent Denver Invitational.

No. 2 singles Patty Duke was the lone Mustang to win a third-round match as the host Sun Devils won their mini-tourney.
