Jaxon Heil, Student-Athlete of the Week

High school sports:
Football (safety-running back) and track (sprints).

What I’ve done lately:
Is the second-leading tackler on the team (52) and leads in tackles for loss (5.0) through six games.

Grade-point average:
4.19.

Class:
Senior.

Why I attend Mullen: My goal is to go to college (he recently committed to Valparaiso for football) and get an education. We have a college format at Mullen, it’s a good school and it offers the ability to play sports at a high level.

The best thing about my sport:
I’ve played football my entire life. I love that I’m not the biggest or fastest person on the field, but am able to dominate because of how smart I am.

In my future:
I’m going to college and will play football and major in biomechanical engineering. I want to be a lab technician and design artificial body parts for athletes.

Pre-Game ritual:
My biggest thing before the game is to sit in the Green Room and walk through my job and get in the habit of that before the game.

Favorite college team:
No favorite.

Why I play:
l love the game, I’ve been playing football for 12 years, ever since I was in the first grade. It’s a brotherhood. Some of my closest friends are the ones I’ve met through football and they remain very close. All of my friends are at Mullen and we’ve stayed together.  And I’ve continued to work (at the game) to provide money for college.
