Both excelled in the past Season D, an unprecedented fourth period in state annals that extended well into June as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Dwol, a triple-jumper, is a two-time Class 4A schoolgirl champion (there was no season when she was a sophomore). She has been one of the best nationally for a few seasons including in her age group and in January she recorded 42 feet, 0.75 inches for an all-time Colorado best by a female.

Also in June, Manwiller became Mullen’s first No. 1 singles champion and led the Mustangs to their first team title in 15 years.

Manwiller lost just once as a senior. Before not having a junior season, she was a two-time state qualifier, including a semifinalist showing in 2019.

Mullen had won team titles in 2001 and 2006.

“I am really honored and grateful to be recognized by Sportswomen,” Manwiller said. “It was such an amazing four years playing for Mullen and I could not have asked for a better coach and team.

“My experience in high-school tennis was everything I had hoped for and it definitely prepared me for college tennis. Thanks to Mullen for providing such incredible support to the tennis team!”

Sportswomen has indicated its intention is to have an in-person banquet on March 13 at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center beginning at 5 p.m. with registration.
