Dale O'Blia, Student-Athlete of the Week

High-school sport:
Wrestling (undefeated two-time Class 3A 106-pound Colorado champion).

What I’ve done lately:
Won his second consecutive championship the past weekend at Ball Arena – was 44-0 for the 2021-22 season, 61-0 in his career. Also helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish.

Grade-point average:
4.1.

Class:
Sophomore.

Why I attend Mullen: I attend Mullen because of the faith aspect. I believe that God and school come first and it will help me to succeed in those aspects.

The best thing about my sport:
It teaches you discipline. Wrestling has taught me a lot over my life; it has helped me grow and be a better person overall.

In my future:
After Mullen, I see myself in college and wrestling, and see myself becoming successful, one day becoming a national champion.

Pre-Match ritual:
Before matches I listen to music. I use it to calm my nerves. Also before matches I pray to God and ask Him to help me with my match, and keep me safe and help me be creative and calm my nerves. It’s just nice to talk to God before I go out there.

Favorite college team:
No favorite. I enjoy all college wrestling and all highlights of top athletes.

Why I wrestle:
It helps keep me in order and, as I said, all of the aspects of it. It’s just something I love to do.
